Fees & FAQs
Here you can find information about session fees, where counselling takes place and how appointments are arranged. I have also answered some common questions about beginning therapy below.
Sessions and fees:
Free introductory conversation
15 minutes • free
An opportunity to ask questions, tell me a little about what has brought you here and get a sense of how it feels to talk together. There is no expectation to make a decision during the conversation.
Standard session
50 minutes • £60
The usual length for ongoing counselling, giving us time to explore whatever feels important without needing to rush.
Extended session
100 minutes • £110
For when additional time would be helpful or you would like more space to explore something within a single session.
If you are unsure which session length would suit you, we can discuss it during the introductory conversation.
Where sessions take place:
Face-to-face in Rugby, Warwickshire
Online across the UK
Session fees are the same for face-to-face and online counselling.
Arranging and paying for sessions:
Session frequency
Sessions are usually held weekly at the same regular time. If you occasionally need to rearrange, I will try to offer an alternative where availability allows. If your circumstances change longer-term, we can discuss whether another regular time is available.
Availability
I offer daytime appointments Monday to Friday. There may occasionally be some flexibility, which we can discuss if needed.
Accepted payment methods
Payment is usually made by bank transfer before each session. Contactless card payment is also available at face-to-face sessions if needed.
Cancellation or re-arranging terms
Please provide at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or rearrange a session. Sessions cancelled or rearranged with less than 48 hours’ notice will be charged at the full session rate.

Some common questions.
Do I need to know exactly what I want to talk about?
No. You may know what has brought you to counselling, or you may only know that something feels wrong or keeps returning. We can begin with whatever feels most present and work out the rest as we talk.

Do I need a referral or diagnosis?
No. You can contact me directly and you do not need a diagnosis to begin counselling. If you already have one, it can form part of what we discuss, but it will not be treated as the complete explanation of who you are or what you are experiencing.

Will you tell me what I should do?
I will help you slow things down, look more closely at what is happening and consider different possibilities. I may ask questions or offer another point of view, but you will decide what fits with your experience and what you want to do.

How do I know whether you are the right counsellor for me?
Qualifications and ways of working matter, but so does how it feels to speak with someone. The free introductory conversation gives you an opportunity to ask questions, get a sense of how we get on and decide whether you would like to arrange a first session. There is no pressure to make that decision during the call.

How long will I need counselling?
There is no set number of sessions. Some people come with something specific they would like to explore over a shorter period, while others find that longer-term work is more helpful. We can review how the counselling is going and decide together whether continuing still feels useful.

Is counselling confidential?
Counselling is confidential, although there are some limits. I discuss my work in confidential clinical supervision to help me practise safely and ethically, using anonymised information wherever possible.
There may also be circumstances in which I have an ethical or legal responsibility to share information, particularly where there is a risk of serious harm or a safeguarding concern. I will explain these limits before we begin and, wherever possible, talk with you before any information is shared.
